Niger CJ Shifts High Court to Magistrate Court Complex
Because of the court’s terrible condition, Chief Judge Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik of Niger State has allowed the temporary relocation of Lapai High Court to the Chief Magistrate Court Complex in Lapai, Lapai Local Government Area.
This was revealed in a statement that Hajiya Amina Lamide Musa, the Chief Registrar of the State High Court, signed.
During an inspection visit to the court, it was learned that the CJ ordered the High Court’s urgent relocation while renovations were being completed.
According to Justice Abdulmalik, the move came about as a result of the High Court’s renovations getting underway.
“Litigants and members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Minna and Suleja should file their processes at the High Court’s temporary location as of this announcement,” the speaker stated.
The statement instructed the general public and attorneys to direct all legal disputes and other required procedures toward swift court and administrative action.
For almost ten years, the High Court has been in poor condition; as a result, staff members are rumored to have fled the building whenever it rains.
