Religious leaders have been warned by President Bola Tinubu not to curse and denounce Nigeria in their speeches.

On Thursday in Abuja, during Ramadan Iftar, he had a conversation with religious and traditional leaders in the State House.

According to Tinubu, people should use the general elections in 2027 to remove a terrible leader.

The president tasked religious leaders with criticizing individuals holding elected office in a more constructive manner.

“The love of the nation is in your hands,” said Tinubu. For our nation, offer up prayers. Teach our kids. Preaching sermons to members of our churches and mosques is a serious business.

Don’t criticize your own country. As a Yoruba man and as our elders would say, “you must leave the beads there, no matter how slippery the bottom of your child is.”

The beads should stay there. This is your country; do not mistreat the country or denounce it in sermons. The purpose of leadership is to effect change.

Yes, this leader is awful, no problem. To remove him, wait till the next election; yet, do not decry your nation. Don’t curse the nation of Nigeria. This country is breathtaking.
