Tinubu Administration’s Passive Stance Blamed for Nigeria’s Insecurity – PDP BoT
The government of President Bola Tinubu has been held accountable by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) for the murders, banditry, kidnappings, and terrorism that have occurred in Nigeria.
The PDP BoT said that the insecurity that Nigeria has been experiencing over the past nine months is a result of Tinubu’s administration’s lax policies.
Following its Tuesday meeting in Abuja, the PDP BoT bemoaned that the “situation in the country has become unbearable” in a communiqué.
The party stated that the APC administration “has not implemented any concrete and coherent policies, measures, or steps to address these existential threats, which have put the country in a precarious situation.”
According to the press release: “The BoT is concerned about the nation’s deteriorating security, which is demonstrated by the increase in mass murders, robberies, kidnappings for ransom, and terrorist attacks by attackers who are emboldened by the APC administration’s blatantly lax approach to security issues, particularly in the last nine months.
“These have attendant negative consequences, as evidenced by the alarming 46% poverty rate, where up to 130 million citizens have fallen further into multidimensional poverty in the last nine months, and the nearly 30% inflation rate and 41% unemployment rate.”
A current and immediate threat to the survival of the country, according to the opposition party, is posed by the “catastrophic economic and security situation in the country, which has left Nigerians hopeless, despondent, angry, and major multinational companies, as well as hardworking young Nigerians, leaving our nation in droves.”
