Why we’re against ‘no gree for anybody’ slogan – Nigeria Police
The Nigeria Police Force gave an explanation on why it objected to the 2024 catchphrase, “no gree for anybody.”
The slogan’s origins are unknown, but Nigerians, especially the younger generation, have taken to it as inspiration to achieve in the next year.
ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, cautioned against using the phrase on Wednesday during a news conference in Abuja, citing incidents of violence against police officers.
However, internet users fiercely disagreed with his warning, spreading the phrase even further and declaring that “no one can stop them.”
However, the Force spokesperson clarified that the “Police are in the best position to advise and educate Nigerians on possible early warning signs of an impending danger as a civil and people-oriented institution” in a tweet on his official X feed on Thursday night.
He went on to caution against using the catchphrase to disparage security personnel while they are performing their jobs.
Do not undervalue the 2024 catchphrase. Please don’t misuse the phrase or use it as an excuse to harm security personnel as they go about their business.
“Embrace peace wherever you are, especially at home, and use reason while using the motto. All is great with our beloved nation,” he remarked.
