INEC announces date to begin review of 2023 general election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Thursday that the general election of 2023 will be the subject of a post-election assessment starting in July.
A statement from Mr. Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, made this disclosure.
The announcement was released on Thursday in Abuja following the regular meeting of INEC.
Okoye outlined how the choice was consistent with the Commission’s long history of practice.
He stated that the study will concentrate on every facet of the electoral operations prior to, during, and following the elections.
Okoye stated that stakeholders and Commission representatives from the national and state levels will participate in the evaluation in order to draw lessons and determine the best course of action.
The Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) meeting will kick off the review on July 4 and the Commission’s retreat will wrap it up on August 5, he added.
