Intensify efforts to surpass your previous achievements – Oyo traders tell Makinde
Traders in Oyo State have urged Governor Seyi Makinde to step up efforts to outperform his first-term accomplishments during the second term, which starts in May of this year.
On Sunday, the traders disclosed this information.
Earlier this year, on March 18, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Makinde, who had previously run for governor, was pronounced the victor. This was according to a source.
All 33 of the state’s local government areas participated in the election.
Makinde won with a total of 563,756 votes, beating out every other contender.
Senator Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 256,685 votes, while Adebayo Adelabu of the Accord received 38,357 votes overall.
Yet, the state’s business community has urged the governor to yield to guidance.
The merchants argued that Makinde’s reelection was both a divine intervention and the consequence of his extraordinary accomplishments.
Alhaji Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh, the Babaloja-General of Oyo State, said Makinde’s re-election was a manifestation of God’s will and evidence that the people of Oyo State value his dedication to taking the state to new heights.
In a statement made available to us on Sunday, Jimoh counseled Makinde to step up his efforts in order to outperform his prior accomplishments during his second term in office.
“Your win at the elections is a fulfillment of God’s will and also a sign that the people of Oyo State are thankful for your dedication to taking the state to a greater height,” Jimoh wrote in his congratulations to the governor.
“We are certain that during your second term, Oyo State would become a model state for other states in Nigeria, particularly in the areas of security, agriculture, education, health, transportation, and tourism.
We consequently suggest that you step up your efforts to outperform your prior success.
