Uncertainty: The administration of Zamfara University orders students to relocate to Sabon Garin
All students residing in the Damba area of Gusau have been ordered by the administration of the Federal University, Gusau, in Zamfara State, to either move to Sabon Gida or remain in the Gusau metropolitan in the state capital.
Comrade Umar Usman, the institution’s communications officer, stated that the students would feel safer in Gusau town or Sabon Gida village in a statement.
“The university management wishes to urge students to either relocate to Sabon Gida, which is now well secured with armed security personnel, or stay within Gusau metropolis,” the message says in part.
This is so, especially for Damba, because those who live on the periphery are more susceptible to bandit assaults.
Usman said that the four school pupils who were taken on Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the Sabon Garin Damba Area, Gusau, by members of Operation Hadarin Daji and Metro Joint Patrol (Eagle Eye) have all been safely recovered.
Two of the four kidnapped students were able to flee after being taken, and the other two were freed after military personnel fought the robbers in a fierce gunfight.
