Jim Iyke, a prominent actor from Nigeria, has candidly and painfully described his failed marriage.

In an interview with Chude Jideowo, the legendary Nollywood actor said that the loss of his mother upended his marriage at precisely the wrong time.

His words suggest that the loss of his mother created a significant void in his life, forcing him to lose the traits needed to be a decent father.

His wife gave up on their marriage as a result of his violent and obsessive behavior.

He stated:

“I have a part of me that will choose the simple path. Because I approach everything in my life with great strategy and deliberation, every time I did something subpar in my life, it was always when I was feeling upset.

“I had lost something. My mother served as both my co-partner and dearest friend. People frequently ponder how he manages to recover from scandals that are meant to bring him down.

“I lost someone who can communicate with a spirit part of me that no one else can communicate with.”

“When I lost my mother, it took me years to get back on my feet. The way of life, spirituality, and connection were already gone.

I arrived and assumed leadership as the family’s head, but I was unable to cry or allow myself to feel.

“As I was recovering from it. My first son was being carried by my wife. I had a peaceful area. There was no one to look after, and that was my method of healing.

“All of a sudden, I was overcome with sadness and loss. I was angry since I was unable to sleep for days on end. I wasn’t the devoted husband she had married anymore.

“I stopped finding comedy. I lost my inner lion and my ability to lead. She suffered as a result of my simple surrender to the environment.

“I turned into an obsessive father, giving my son all I had while abandoning her. I gave her all of my love and care, then I turned my back on her.
