Mustapha Bala, the commissioner of police for the Abia State Command, has instructed the state’s Police Community Relations Committee members to uphold their obligations by giving the police helpful information.

This, he claimed, would successfully enable the police officers in carrying out their responsibilities for preventing crime and preserving peace in the various towns of Abia.

At a meeting of the PCRC members held at the police officers’ mess in Umuahia, the CP gave the order.

In order to help the Police secure lives and property in both urban and rural parts of the State, he reminded the PCRC members that one of their duties was to provide the police with the necessary information.

CP Bala made it clear that those seeking leadership positions in PCRC would henceforth be judged on their dedication to their obligations. He also took exception to several committee members’ infrequent attendance at PCRC meetings.

Earlier in his speech, Chief Emma Nwosu, the Chairman of the PCRC in Abia State, warned the Commissioner of Police about the city of Aba’s growing tide of crime, noting the rise in car thefts by hoodlums among other criminal activities.

The PCRC Chairman praised CP Bala for his efforts thus far in the State, particularly in securing the smooth conduct of the elections in Abia in 2023, which earned him and his men praise from Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector General of Police.
