In Ekiti State, two traditional rulers were slain by suspected kidnappers.

The monarchs were ambushed by gunmen on Monday when they were driving a car driven by one of their colleagues, the Alara of Ikole Ekiti, coming from a security meeting in Irele-Ekiti. The attack occurred along a village in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olushola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin, were slain in the ambush, but Oba Adebayo Fatoba, the Alara of Ara Ikole-Ekiti, managed to flee the scene, according to information obtained by XK STAFF.

Michael Ogungbemi, the chairman of the Ajoni Local Council Development Area, confirmed the occurrence and stated that the gunmen tried to take the three traditional rulers hostage.

Sunday Abutu, a spokesperson for the state police, said in an interview with XK STAFF, “I will get the details and get back, please.”
