Ogun Govt assures clerics on Agbado-Oke Aro- Akute Road, says 16km already done
On Friday, the Ogun State government announced that Agbado-Oke Aro-Akute road reconstruction work is now underway.
In response to a video that showed 500 pastors pleading with Governor Dapo Abiodun to fix the road in order to fulfill his vow to be re-elected, the administration took action.
The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, released a statement in which the state government said that it has never shied away from its road building obligations. Since joining the team in 2019, the state government has built over 600 kilometers of roads.
The remaining axis of the Alagbole-Sango Ota road was included in this year’s budget, it continued, adding that it had already finished half of the project.
It did, however, clarify that budgetary concerns and the increase in the price of building materials are to blame for the project’s little execution delay, adding that the limits were being addressed.
In addition, the administration asked locals to pay their fair share of state taxes and support the government’s efforts to uphold democratic principles.
“We are on the same page with the clerics captured in the video demanding action on the road,” Akinsanya stated, referring to the completion of the project to lessen the suffering of our people and breathe new life into the neighborhood.
It is a truth that the Ogun State administration, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, has made significant investments in roads. It is the constitutional duty of the government to build decent roads for the people of Ogun State.
The government has already completed 16 km of this specific 32 kilometer route, which connects Alagbole to Sango Ota. More significantly, the budget for 2024 includes mention of it.
But given the actual situation, the budgeted amount is insufficient, especially when it comes to foreign exchange. Because the price of granite, asphalt, and other materials has skyrocketed, the government is trying to figure out how to close the cost difference. A project that was originally estimated to cost N1 billion may now cost more than twice that much, as is common knowledge. As a result, extensive reengineering is needed.
“We need to work together to get the economy back on track, not resort to subtly intimidating people and defaming them.
By paying their taxes, the populace must assist the government in escaping the economic impasse.
The majority of the local population, according to statistics, is not included in the tax system. In order to effectively assist the government, they ought to pay their taxes on time.
