Ogun government closes business due to pollution in the environment
Due to environmental contamination, the Ogun State Government closed Maths Metal Recycling Limited, a Sagamu business.
After the corporation purposefully let tainted oil leak into its surrounding area, it was closed down for industrial pollution.
Ola Oresanya, Commissioner for vicinity, stated on Sunday that the recycling company’s repeated disregard for warnings left the state government with little choice but to close it down, “thereby causing grievous harm to people living in its immediate environment.”
Rather of erecting retention tanks within its premises where the bad oil and other solvents are intended to be handled, Oresanya asserted that the recycling firm had “deliberately punctured holes at the back of its premises to discharge contaminated oil into its immediate environment.”
He said that in addition to causing pollution, the Maths Metal administration had broken the legislation in Ogun State regarding environmental sanitation.
He said that this was because the company’s intentional activity had a negative impact on the neighbors.
He said, “The state government will now have to determine the extent of harm done to the community’s members’ well-being, particularly the percolation of the contaminated oil into their subterranean water.”
He said that the recycling firm would be forced to pay for any remediation that the Ogun State Government determined could be done after a rigorous evaluation, and additional remedial measures may be taken into consideration.
