Ado Ibrahim Ohinoyi of Ebiraland Passes Away at 95

At the age of 95, the supreme king of Ebiraland is reported to have passed away in the early hours of Sunday.

He passed away at an Abuja hospital where he was undergoing treatment for an age-related illness, according to palace sources in Lokoja who spoke with Channels Television. Islamic customs would be followed during his burial.

In 1997, Prince Abubakar Audu, who was the governor of Kogi State at the time, crowned Ado Ibrahim as the Ohinoyi of Ebira land. He succeeded Sanni Omolorim, the monarch who ruled from 1957 to 1997.

Born on February 7, 1929, the late Ado Ibrahim went to Quranic and Western Nursery schools. He continued on to the Native Authority (NA) elementary school in Okene, Northern Region (now Kogi State) in 1940 to complete his basic education.

After attending Ondo Boys High School to begin his secondary studies, he subsequently transferred to Oduduwa College, from which he graduated in 1949.

He graduated from the London School of Economics in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and Harvard Business School in 1959 with a master’s degree.
