Nigerian troops kill five bandits, recover weapons
On Friday, Nigerian Army troops patrolling in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area (LGA) claimed to have killed five bandits and found four AK-7 weapons, six AK-47 magazines, and 24 7.62mm bullets.
In a statement released in Kaduna, Lt-Col Musa Yahaya, the acting deputy director of Army Public Affairs for One Division, Nigerian Army, said as much.
According to Yahaya, the military cleared out the general region of the Kaso Hills and Kanti-Tantatu in the Kubusu Forest in Kaduna State.
According to him, the goal of the operation was “to deny bandits and criminals freedom of action in order to foster an atmosphere that is supportive of economic activity and legal enterprises.”
Yahaya said that the operation began on Thursday and continued until the early hours of Friday, adding that the bandits took a significant hit.
He stated that further items retrieved included three motorbikes, two cellphones, a matchet, and several charms.
